Based in Plum, serving four counties
Shepherd and Shield Roofing works out of Plum Borough on the eastern edge of Allegheny County, and the territory follows the roads we actually drive: east through Westmoreland County on Route 22 and Route 30, and out the turnpike and Route 219 corridor to Cambria County and Blair County. That is the whole map. We would rather cover four counties well, with the owner on every job, than promise half the state and subcontract it.
The same weather, four different fights
Every county we serve gets western Pennsylvania freeze-thaw, but each one adds its own problem. In Allegheny County it is mature trees: shaded, damp roofs that grow moss early and gutters that fill every fall. Westmoreland County splits between newer suburban builds hitting their first replacement all at once and older mill-town homes with layered, patched rooflines. Cambria County sits high in the Alleghenies and carries some of the heaviest snow loads in the state, so ice and water protection and attic ventilation are not optional there. Blair County's railroad-era homes bring steep pitches, old decking, and flashing details that need hand work. The spec changes with the county, and the estimate explains what your location actually requires.
What the crew actually drives
The trucks that show up at your house carry the whole job: tear-off tools, tarps and plywood for protecting landscaping, ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, drip edge, flashing stock, and the shingles themselves, with a container delivered ahead of time for debris. For gutter work we run five and six inch seamless aluminum, formed to length on site so there are no joints to leak. Nothing is subcontracted to a mystery van. The same equipment and the same people work a roof in Plum on Tuesday and a roof in Johnstown on Thursday, which is exactly how the quality stays the same across four counties.
One process everywhere
Wherever the house sits, the job runs the same way. Nolan inspects the roof and the attic side when accessible, then leaves a free written estimate itemized line by line: tear-off, decking allowance priced per sheet, underlayment and ice and water spec, the exact shingle line and color, ventilation notes, and cleanup. When you say go, materials arrive ahead of the crew, most roofs finish in one to two days, and every job ends with a magnetic nail sweep and a walkthrough with the owner. Scheduling and how far we come
Close-in work in Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville, or Murrysville can usually be inspected within days. Johnstown, Altoona, and Ebensburg are scheduled in efficient runs, so an estimate visit may take a little longer to book, but the job itself gets the same crew and the same owner on site.
