Five services, one system

Everything we do at Shepherd and Shield Roofing is about moving water off your home and away from it. The roof sheds it, the soffit and fascia close off the roofline and let the attic breathe, and the gutters carry it away from your walls and foundation. Those parts age together and fail together, which is why we offer these five services and nothing else. Owner Nolan Link inspects every home personally and tells you which pieces actually need replaced, in a free written estimate you can compare line by line.

What each service covers

Asphalt shingle roof replacement is the core of the business. It is a full tear-off, never a layover: old shingles off, decking inspected and repaired where soft, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, and architectural shingles installed to manufacturer spec so the warranty holds. It is for roofs that are past about 20 years, leaking, or losing shingles in wind. Most homes are done in one to two days.

Vinyl siding replacement is for homes wearing tired aluminum or first-generation vinyl. New siding seals up drafty walls, ends painting for good, and changes how the house looks from the street. A typical home takes two to four days depending on size and trim detail.

Soffit replacement closes off the underside of your roof overhang. Vented soffit is how the attic breathes; when it is blocked or rotten, summer heat cooks the shingles from below and winter moisture feeds ice dams. We replace it with vented or solid material to match what the roof system needs.

Fascia replacement deals with the board your gutters hang on. Years of overflowing or ice-filled gutters rot fascia from behind, and new gutters screwed into soft wood do not last. We replace the board and cap it so it stays straight and dry.

Gutter replacement finishes the system: five and six inch seamless aluminum, sized for your roof area, pitched to actually drain, with downspouts placed to carry water away from the foundation instead of into the basement.

Why these jobs belong together

A roof replacement is the one moment when the whole roofline is open and accessible, which makes it the cheapest time to fix the soffit, fascia, and gutters attached to it. Doing them separately means paying for setup twice and, too often, mounting new parts on old failures, new gutters on rotten fascia, or a new roof over an attic that still cannot vent. When Nolan writes your estimate he looks at the entire edge of the house and tells you what genuinely needs done now, what can wait, and what makes sense to bundle. Sometimes that is everything, often it is not.

Scope and timeline

Most roof replacements run one to two days, siding two to four, and soffit, fascia, and gutter work usually a day when done together. Every job starts with a free inspection and a written, itemized estimate, and ends with a full cleanup, a magnetic sweep for nails, and the owner walking the finished work with you. We serve Allegheny County, Westmoreland County, Cambria County, and Blair County. Call (814) 312-8555.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair roofs, or only replace them?

Our work is replacement: roofs, siding, soffit, fascia, and gutters. If your roof is genuinely repairable, Nolan will tell you that during the free inspection rather than sell you a replacement you do not need yet.

Should I replace gutters and fascia at the same time as the roof?

Usually yes, if they are near the end of their life. The roofline is already open, the crew is already there, and new gutters mounted on old rotten fascia fail early. The estimate breaks each piece out separately so you can decide with real numbers.

How do estimates work?
